About The Position

The ECEAP Family Service Worker position is designed to provide a strong link between the home, school and community. The emphasis is in establishing a working relationship with families of enrolled children within ECEAP.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Four-year degree, preferably in Social Work, Education, Psychology or Counseling.
  • Current Washington State driver's license and good driving record.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, students and community.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and successfully with all staff, students and community.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as assigned, maintains current knowledge in assigned field, and able to organize own time for work completion.
  • Knowledge and experience working with community social services and resource agencies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of state/federal laws and regulations regarding education and social services.
  • Effective human relations and communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Good language, grammar and math skills.
  • Computer skills or ability to learn word-processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Ability to collect data and set up and maintain accurate filing system.
  • Ability to attend to detail and follow task through to completion.
  • Ability to organize and set priorities.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and be flexible to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems working a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Experience working with families with low economic-status.
  • Willingness to make home visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Evening meetings and activities will occasionally be required.

Responsibilities

  • Support family activities to include: parent education, ECEAP Family Policy Council and family activities nights.
  • Plan, implement and document developmentally appropriate family focused visits with participating families.
  • Cooperate with coworkers and local service delivery programs to ensure a team approach for assigned delivery of social, educational and health services to the enrolled families.
  • Participate in the classroom process as directed and desired by individual preschool teachers.
  • Maintain required documentation and prepare monthly and final reports for the supervisor.
  • Assist with recruitment, enrollment and data collection as assigned.
  • Assist families in identifying available community resources for social, educational and health needs.
  • Collaborate with staff and parents to develop and implement activities for families with young children.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled planning meetings to ensure coordinated services.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
