DSHS YVS - Food Service Worker ( On-Call) Are you passionate about food service and eager to make a difference in a dynamic environment? DSHS is offering an on-call opportunity for a Food Service Worker at Yakima Valley School in Selah, WA. In this role, you'll contribute to a large-scale food service operation by preparing and serving meals, maintaining cleanliness, and supporting kitchen efficiency.

Requirements

• Knowledge of kitchen and dining room operations, personal hygiene, sanitation, and housekeeping practices, including the use of standard kitchen appliances and utensils.
• Ability to learn food preparation and serving routines, including therapeutic dietary orders, recipes, and menus.
• Follow instructions and directions given by supervisors and lead workers effectively.
• Possess a food handler's card or the ability to obtain one within one day of employment.

Responsibilities

• Transport food, supplies, and equipment between kitchens, dining areas, storerooms, and refrigerators.
• Assemble salads, sandwiches, and desserts according to established recipes and standards.
• Prepare and serve special modified diets in accordance with dietary requirements.
• Wash dishes, pots, pans, and utensils, ensuring cleanliness and hygiene.
• Clean kitchen areas by scrubbing surfaces, mopping floors, and emptying trash.
• Operate standard kitchen equipment, including coffee makers, toasters, mixers, and dishwashers.

• Evening and night shifts come with an additional shift differential on top of the standard compensation rate.
• Employees who work on-site at this location for at least three days a week may be eligible for an extra 5% premium pay in addition to the advertised salary.
