About The Position

As the Food Service Worker Lead for Dining Services, you will work under the direct supervision of management to help maintain efficient and courteous service while ensuring the delivery of quality, safe, and properly portioned food according to established menus and high operational standards in all customer service areas. You will help ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness throughout production and service areas and promote the correct use and care of equipment. In this role, you will contribute to a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment while supporting your team in providing exceptional customer service. You should have a general understanding that Dining Services is a dynamic and continually evolving operation that adapts to industry trends and new information to meet and exceed guest expectations. This position description is not intended to limit your responsibilities, as duties may change in response to operational needs, future decisions, and directions established by Dining Services management. To support WSU’s ability to attract talent in a competitive job market, this recruitment has been approved for a hiring incentive payment of up to $3,500.00. Requirements

  • Possession of, or eligible for, a food handler’s permit AND one year of experience in quantity or institutional food preparation AND serving, which includes six months experience directing the work of others; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a Washington Food Handler’s Permit within 14 days of employment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Two to five years food service experience.
  • Multi-faceted food experience.
  • Experience leading and training employees.
  • General knowledge of commercial grade kitchen equipment use, safety, and maintenance.
