About The Position

The Food Service Employee- Dish room supports the daily operation of the high school cafeteria by providing excellent customer service to students and staff while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient food service environment. Responsibilities include washing all dishes and utensils, food service preparation, station setup and breakdown, cleaning, and adherence to food safety and sanitation standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous food service, cashier, or customer service experience preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices is preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, and coworkers.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
  • Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and repetitive hand motions.
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet environments typical of commercial kitchens.

Responsibilities

  • Wash dishes, trays, utensils, and kitchen equipment
  • Closes down, cleans and sanitizes dish machine area and equipment
  • Stores all dishes, pots, pans, trays in orderly manner
  • Provide friendly, courteous, and efficient customer service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Set up serving lines and food stations prior to meal service, ensuring food is properly displayed and stocked.
  • Break down serving stations after meal periods, including storing food properly and cleaning equipment.
  • Restock food, beverages, utensils, condiments, and supplies throughout meal service.
  • Assist with food preparation, portioning, and packaging as assigned.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, serving areas, dining areas, and food service equipment.
  • Follow all local, state, and federal food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Handle food according to established health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist with receiving, organizing, and storing food and supplies.
  • Report equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or inventory shortages to the Food Service Manager.
  • Work collaboratively with food service staff to ensure efficient meal service.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Services.
