About The Position
The Food Service Worker performs various jobs for patient food preparation. This role involves general functions such as patient tray preparation, retail sales, and catering. Responsibilities include assembling patient trays, chopping/slicing/peeling food, transporting carts and food to various units and areas, delivering trays and snacks, washing pots and pans, cleaning and sanitizing dishes, operating and cleaning equipment, sweeping and mopping, disposing of trash, and stocking/cleaning nourishment rooms. The role also requires adherence to regulations, efficient resource utilization, maintaining a safe work environment, addressing patient needs, and participating in Performance Improvement activities.
Requirements
- Able to read, write and understand the English language.

- High School Graduate or equivalent
- 1 year in patient-feeding food service establishment
Responsibilities
- Performs duties for patient tray preparation, retail sales and catering
- Assembles patients’ trays
- Chops, slices and peels food
- Transports carts to and from the different units
- Delivers trays and snacks to the patient
- Transports food to other areas as needed
- Washes pots and pans by hand and by machine
- Cleans and sanitizes dishes
- Operates, cleans and sanitizes necessary equipment
- Sweeps and mops all areas of the department
- Collects and disposes of trash
- Stocks and cleans nourishment rooms/refrigerators as assigned
- Adheres to all local, state, and federal regulations
- Utilizes resources efficiently and effectively
- Maintains safe work environment
- Addresses patient population-specific needs
- Participates in Performance Improvement activities
