About The Position

To maintain the school kitchen and dining room areas in a physical condition of cleanliness, healthfulness, and safety at all times in preparation for educational and operational use, and to assist with all kitchen duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, or exhibited desire and ability to perform required duties.
  • Previous experience in custodial work is desired.
  • Fluency in writing, speaking, and reading English.
  • Maricopa County Food Handlers Card required.
  • Some positions require a valid State of Arizona Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare dining room for breakfast and lunch meal, including setting up tables, arranging trash cans, brooms, and mop station, and preparing sanitizer buckets for table cleaning.
  • Prep and serve meals as time allows.
  • Keep dining room clean throughout lunch period by wiping down tables, emptying trash cans, and cleaning trash/debris from specific dining arrangements.
  • Accommodate all students with flexibility, including those with special dietary needs (e.g., peanut allergy) or attending special education programs.
  • Assist cafeteria manager with putting away groceries, commodities, and milk.
  • Ensure tables, floors, and trash cans get thoroughly cleaned throughout school.
  • Practice proper sanitation and safety procedures according to health department and district guidelines.
  • Use and operate equipment in a safe, responsible, and productive manner.
  • Request the use of supplies and materials as trained.
  • Work as a self-starter and team member to accomplish all tasks.
  • Maintain good personal cleanliness and dress appropriately for the position.
  • Practice good public relation techniques with students, staff, administration, and parents in a cordial and friendly manner.
  • Attend classes, in-services, and seminars as needed to stay current with trends in services, equipment, materials, and functions related to state/federal laws and district policies.
  • Listen to, understand, and carry out oral/written instructions and directives, and respond with oral/written reports as needed.
  • Maintain in good condition and store for safekeeping all property, supplies, and materials of the district.
  • Assume responsibility for and secure keys assigned by the Central Office.
  • Perform emergency and safety procedures, including fire drills and lock downs.
  • Practice regular and consistent attendance, arriving and departing at designated times.
  • Accurately record time worked.
  • Refrain from the use of inappropriate, obscene, or foul language.
  • Report to Director of Food Service, Food Service Supervisor, and Cafeteria Manager about any areas or items in need of repair or attention beyond the scope of job duties.
  • Maintain district security by locking all doors and gates within the foodservice area.
  • Report any problems with locks, lighting, windows, utilities, etc., to the appropriate personnel.
  • Adhere to all Buckeye Elementary policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Food Service, Food Service Supervisor, Business Manager, or Superintendent.
