About The Position

The Food Service Worker/Cashier is responsible for working at an OhioHealth caresite to provide services that include food preparation, assisting catered events, and general customer service and cashiering responsibilities. Responsibilities may include any one or all of the following tasks: Food preparation, cleaning, sanitizing, adhering to environmental sustainability standards, maintaining orderly appearance of equipment and work area, general cashiering functions to include socially interacting with customers, handling customer service needs and issues, operating cash register and following all cash handling guidelines. Required to perform job duties in compliance with regulatory and operation standards.

Requirements

  • No Degree or Diploma (Required)
  • One year food prep or production experience.
  • Quantity food production techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares hot and cold foods for patients and retail customers according to production sheets.
  • Accurately follows standardized recipes for in-house production.
  • Proper use of cooking and prep equipment.
  • Responsible for following safe food handling practices, maintaining cleanliness, sanitation and order of work area and equipment.
  • Notifies supervisors of equipment malfunctions, and food preparation problems.
  • Performs basic housekeeping duties & maintains clean attractive area.
  • Relieves and trains other positions as assigned.
  • Obtains necessary stock
  • Cashiering.
  • Completes opening and closing procedures.
  • Balances cash register, completes deposit slips, makes deposits, assumes accountability for cash balance in drawer on shift, and records daily transactions.
  • Receives cash from customers, deposits in cash register and makes change.
  • Processes charges: VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, cost center charges.
  • Processes over-rings, refunds, pay outs with the approval of the Supervisor in charge.
  • May be required to price merchandise correctly from invoices, stocks, and arranges areas.
  • Works independently to take customer orders and prepare special orders.
  • Interacts socially with customers to develop a "clientele" of repeat business.
  • Address customers concerns and requests in a timely manner.

  • As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality and efficiency in performing job duties.
  • Sets-up workstation, gathers supplies needed, prepares food items per standardized recipes, and serves customers as requested and in a friendly manner.
  • Places food on plates/trays following menu guidelines, replenishes food supplies, stocks area as required, follows portion control guidelines, communicates openly with cooks, supervisors, and other staff members.
  • Assures the quality of food being served by utilizing safe and sanitary food handling techniques.
  • Takes and records food temperatures on a scheduled basis.
  • Uses sound judgment to determine quality and makes recommendations to supervisor on servability of foods.
  • Prepares and portions salads, desserts, sandwiches, and some hot items, according to production and area requisition sheets.
  • Follows standardized recipes for in-house production.
  • Use of equipment requires minimal operational skills, including cutters, choppers, knives, ovens, and steamers.
  • Receives, verifies against order and properly stores food and supplies.
  • Inspects for damage.
  • Puts stock away by priority to insure quality.
  • Rotates stock to insure old is issued first.
  • Notifies Purchasing Manager about shortages and damages.
  • Cleans and sanitizes area equipment, walls, exhaust hoods, floors, fans, cabinets, freezers, refrigerators, etc. following a predetermined cleaning schedule.
  • Follows manufacturer's directions for dismantling, cleaning and reassembly of equipment and hoods.
  • Uses cleaning chemicals in a manner consistent with manufacturer's directions.
  • Complies with set departmental cash handling procedures.
  • Communicates openly with other staff members as to cleaning schedule, equipment down time, problem areas, etc.
