About The Position
Torrance State Hospital is seeking a motivated Food Service Worker 1 to support dietary operations throughout the facility. The role helps prepare, serve, and deliver food, contributing to safe and efficient operations that support patient care and patients’ nutritional needs. The Food Service Worker 1 assists with meal preparation, sanitation, food distribution, and supply handling. Duties include setting up traylines and assembling meals; portioning food and preparing simple menu items; cleaning equipment, floors, work areas, and utensils; transporting meal trays, carts, food, and supplies; operating and monitoring food-service equipment; and handling deliveries and inventory. This is a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week. The regular schedule is 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch, rotating days off, and work on the 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM shift as needed. The position does not offer telework. A conditional offer requires a medical examination and satisfactory criminal history reports, including Pennsylvania State Police and FBI clearances.

Responsibilities
- Assist with trayline setup and meal assembly while working assigned trayline positions.
- Portion foods and prepare simple menu items, including sandwiches, salads, vegetables, eggs, meats, and potatoes.
- Clean equipment, floors, work areas, and utensils to meet sanitation standards.
- Transport meal trays, carts, food items, and supplies according to established schedules and procedures.
- Operate and monitor dish machines, tray wash equipment, floor scrubbers, and other food-service equipment.
- Unload deliveries, stock food and supplies, rotate inventory, and record equipment temperatures.
