About The Position

The Food Service Supply Technician receives, inspects, stores, and distributes food service items and supplies. The role verifies shipments against invoices, packing slips, and purchase orders; inspects deliveries for damage or defects; and checks temperatures of potentially hazardous foods. The technician prioritizes proper storage, fills requisitions, supports inventory, orders routine hospital supplies, and maintains clean, orderly storage areas. Hospital food service experience is preferred, and on-the-job training is provided.

Requirements

Responsibilities

Verify shipment accuracy by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing them with the invoice or packing slip and purchase order.
Inspect items for damage or defects, including spoilage, dents, and breakage.
Perform temperature checks of potentially hazardous foods.
Attach invoices to purchase orders and forward them to the Dietary Office for recording.
Prioritize storage of received items, stocking frozen and refrigerated items immediately and room-temperature grocery items last.
Move items from the receiving area to proper storage areas using carrying, a hand truck, or a pallet jack.
Fill requisitions accurately and notify the manager when problems occur.
Assist with weekly inventory and stock like items neatly at least 6 inches off the floor.
Order routine supplies from the hospital.
Clean storage bins weekly and ensure scoops are not left in food products.
