About The Position

As a Food Service Supervisor with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, you will help maintain a positive atmosphere at Danville State Hospital. This role motivates you to support staff, maintain high standards, and promote patient well-being. Your leadership will guide daily food service tasks and ensure excellence in all areas. This position provides a chance to grow while making a strong impact on hospital operations. This role oversees food production and service to support a safe and clean environment for patients at Danville State Hospital. The position requires strong leadership and attention to detail to maintain high standards set by regulating agencies.

Requirements

  • Two years as a Food Service Worker and/or production experience, and an Associate degree with major course work in food production and food service; or Three years of paid experience in food production and/or service and successful completion of a Certified Dietary Manager course; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which consists of experience in an institutional setting preparing specialized therapeutic diets, or course work in food production, food service or a related field.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Guide food service workers and cooks by coordinating tasks, inspecting work, and providing feedback
  • Conduct orientation, on-the-job instruction, and in-service training for food service staff
  • Review staffing needs, assign shifts, and approve leave to maintain efficient operations
  • Complete reviews, document performance notes, and support quality work across all tasks
  • Inspect food service areas, monitor temperatures, and address repair needs to meet standards
  • Order supplies, oversee storage, and maintain accurate monthly inventory records
