About The Position

Cuyahoga Hills Juvenile Correctional Facility is seeking a full time FOOD SERVICE SUPERVISOR to work alongside our Food Service Manager 2. This role involves supervising all food preparation & service personnel assigned to one shift of institutional food service operation. The position also includes preparing related records & reports, maintaining safety & sanitary conditions, and assisting the Food Service Manager and cooks in all areas of the kitchen. The supervisor will serve as the manager in the absence of the Food Service Manager 2. DYS is the juvenile corrections system for the state of Ohio, mandated to confine felony offenders, ages 10-21, who have been adjudicated and committed by juvenile courts. During their stay, youth engage in programming designed to address their criminological and behavioral needs.

Requirements

  • Completion of 1 yr. trg. program in food service management; 12 mos. exp. in food service preparation; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development.
  • OR Completion of 2 yr. trg. program in food service preparation or hospitality management technology or 2 yrs. exp. in food service preparation; 6 mos. trg. or 6 mos. exp. in employee training & development.
  • OR equivalent of the Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all food preparation & service personnel (e.g., youth workers & cooks) assigned to one shift of institutional food service operation.
  • Prepares related records & reports (e.g., cycle menus, costs, monthly report, work schedules, production schedule, food &/or supply orders).
  • Maintains safety & sanitary conditions (e.g., monitors cold storage &/or ingredient products; inspects for hazards; checks refrigerator & freezer temperatures; secures food storage areas).
  • Works alongside the Food Service Manager and cooks to assist in all areas of the kitchen including training, food preparation, dishwashing and all daily operations.
  • Serves as the manager in the absence of the Food Service Manager 2.
