About The Position

The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Food Service Supervisor at the Anchorage Correctional Complex (ACC) located in Anchorage, Alaska. This position oversees all food service operations at the Anchorage Correctional Complex, ensuring the safe, efficient, and compliant preparation and delivery of meals. The Food Service Supervisor manages budgeting, menu planning, and food production; enforces sanitation, safety, and security standards; and oversees staff training and scheduling. The role also includes managing inventory, ordering, and supplies to meet the daily meal needs of approximately 1,000 inmates.

Requirements

  • A certificate from an accredited college, technical or vocational school for completion of a course of study in professional cooking, food service/dietary management, food technology, culinary arts, food science/nutrition, dietetics, chef's training or a closely related area.
  • One year of lead level experience in food preparation in a custodial/residential institution.
  • Understanding of and willingness to work with the resident population of a state correctional facility, psychiatric hospital, retirement home, senior/geriatric center or center for the developmentally disabled.
  • Incumbents are required to adhere to the statutes, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the institution which govern such activities as interaction with inmates/residents, employee conduct, security and property protection.
