About The Position

Join Merakey AVS Pittsburgh as a Food Service Supervisor and lead a dedicated team in a healthcare setting, making sure every meal is safe, nutritious, and served with a smile. You will be responsible for daily kitchen operations, inventory management, team guidance, and ensuring all food meets high standards of taste, nutrition, and presentation. This is a hands-on role where you will be actively involved in the kitchen and serving areas for most of your day.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years in food service, with leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of food safety, cooking procedures, and portion control.
  • ServSafe Certification (or willingness to obtain).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and remain on your feet throughout the day.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate electronically through personal email and/or other similar computer platforms.
  • Ability to learn new programs easily and quickly.
  • Demonstrated experience developing talent and managing multiple priorities.
  • Ability to use critical thinking skills to resolve problems or improve the program.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally, electronically, and in writing with clients, parents, students, and support staff.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Leading daily kitchen operations, including meal preparation and service, with a focus on quality and care.
  • Opening and closing the kitchen, managing inventory, and minimizing waste.
  • Guiding and motivating the team to foster a positive and supportive work environment.
  • Performing hands-on tasks in the kitchen and serving area for approximately 90% of the workday.
  • Maintaining a clean and safe environment, ensuring readiness for health inspections.
  • Assisting with menu planning, food ordering, and utilizing government commodities.
  • Ensuring all food meets standards for taste, nutrition, and presentation.
  • Handling patient and staff feedback with a positive and solution-oriented approach.
  • Coordinating special menus, wellness programs, and school community events.
