About The Position

The Food Service Manager is under the supervision of the Director and is responsible for the operation of the food service program.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience as a food service manager.
  • Food handler's permit or completion of the State Department of Education School Food Service statewide training program or equivalent required.
  • Must have food purchasing experience and/or knowledge.
  • Good oral and written communication skills required.
  • Demonstrate initiative, enthusiasm, and organizational ability as well as the ability to work in demanding environments.
  • Must have leadership ability and can demonstrate proven experience.
  • Familiar with the operation of all kitchen equipment.
  • Practice acceptable sanitation and safety rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 75 pounds.
  • Must be willing to receive additional training to improve job skills.
  • All applicants who are conditionally considered for employment will, as a final step in the employment process, be required to submit to a drug screen test.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of computer keyboarding skills preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, cook, and bake food for meals.
  • Plan complete menus.
  • Order all food, kitchen supplies, and equipment.
  • Train new kitchen staff employees.
  • Supervise kitchen staff.
  • Maintain all records of the food service program.
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment and stock.
  • Plan the disposition of government commodities.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the appropriate supervisor.
