About The Position

UPMC is hiring a Casual Food Service Host at UPMC Harrisburg. The role is responsible for ensuring guest satisfaction with food service by using customer service skills. The host delivers and serves nutritionally appropriate, attractive meals in a timely manner and follows proper food-handling techniques and food-safety procedures.

Candidates must be available to work either 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. or 3:30 p.m.–7:30 p.m., including every other weekend and holiday. A work permit is required for candidates under 18 years old. Act 34 clearance is listed under licensure, certifications, and clearances.

Requirements

Responsibilities

• Follow hand hygiene and infection-control procedures consistently when interacting with customers.
• Follow department procedures for operating food-service equipment.
• Communicate customer complaints and concerns effectively to other health-care team members.
• Sanitize the assigned work area according to departmental procedures and health-department guidelines.
• Serve patient meal trays using the designated department script, including proper patient identification.
• Distribute and collect patient menus and obtain menu selections according to departmental procedures.
• Respond to meal-service requests using customer-service skills to support customer satisfaction.
• Serve meals within established timeframes and meet departmental standards for appearance, food quality, and temperature control.
