About The Position

This is a continuous posting for the 2026-2027 School Year for a Food Service Helper position within various school locations in Buffalo, New York. Candidates must have resided in the City of Buffalo for at least 90 consecutive days prior to the posting date, with an exception for Native Americans who meet specific criteria. The role involves assisting in food preparation and serving, operating kitchen equipment, handling and storing food properly, cleaning kitchen areas and equipment, and potentially serving as a cashier or server.

Requirements

• Applicants must have experience in domestic work, preferably but not limited to: preparation and serving of food, maintenance of kitchens, serving areas and food storage areas, etc.
• An equivalent combination of training and experience that indicates ability to perform required duties under the typical work activities listed above.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and serving of food
• Assist in the use of kitchen equipment used in the preparation of food
• Assist food handling, including proper storage of food
• Cleans all aspects of the kitchen, equipment, serving area, washes dishes, pots, pans, tableware, etc.
• Maintains and cleans food preparation and storage areas
• Sweep and mop floors
• May serve as a cashier and/or server
• Clean and sanitize tables in dining room
• Performs related duties as required
