The Food Service General Worker is responsible for performing skilled work in the preparation and service of nutritionally adequate, reimbursable meals. This role involves meeting production deadlines and ensuring the quality of food products. The position requires following daily work schedules for food production, service, and cleaning, and participating in ongoing state-approved training. The worker must demonstrate exceptional customer service, operate point-of-sale systems according to federal guidelines, and adhere to food safety rules, departmental procedures, and HACCP principles to ensure a safe work environment. Duties include kitchen tasks such as pre-preparation, food production, service, backup, clean-up, and checking in orders. The role also involves assisting in ensuring safe meal service with good quality food, assisting with ordering, storage, and inventories, and following recipes and instructions for food preparation, recording relevant data. Safe operation of food service equipment, maintaining a clean work environment, and ensuring sanitation practices are followed are also key responsibilities. Additionally, the position may involve driving vans and refrigerated/freezer trucks to satellite sites for food delivery and other related tasks. All activities must comply with equal employment and non-discrimination policies. Participation in training programs to enhance skills and reviewing current developments in the field are expected. Adherence to safety rules, federal and state laws, and School Board policies is mandatory. Other duties may be assigned by the supervisor.
