About The Position

We’re seeking a passionate, hands-on leader to oversee culinary and patient dining services within a fast-paced inpatient rehabilitation hospital. As Food Service Director, you’ll combine strong culinary leadership with a deep understanding of healthcare operations to support patient recovery through high-quality, clinically aligned meals. This role goes beyond traditional dining—you’ll lead a team that plays a critical part in patient healing and satisfaction. You’ll oversee daily food service operations, ensure compliance with healthcare standards, and collaborate closely with clinical teams to deliver safe, timely, and nourishing meals that support recovery outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Dietetics, Hospitality, or related field; or equivalent experience preferred
  • 5–7 years of food service leadership experience, ideally in healthcare, hospital, or other regulated environments
  • Strong understanding of healthcare food service operations, including sanitation, infection control, and regulatory compliance
  • Proven ability to lead in a fast-paced, clinical setting with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience collaborating with clinical teams and supporting therapeutic diet programs
  • Demonstrated success with P&L management, inventory control, and labor optimization
  • Strong leadership presence with the ability to drive accountability, engagement, and team development
  • Skilled in change management and process improvement, especially in new or transitioning accounts
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and standard computer systems
  • ServSafe® Certification
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Ability to provide documentation for work authorization
  • Willingness to obtain Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) certification within one year of hire

Responsibilities

  • Deliver exceptional patient and client satisfaction through efficient, compliant, and patient-centered food service operations
  • Oversee all aspects of food service, including sanitation, infection control, regulatory compliance, quality improvement, and patient meal service
  • Partner closely with clinical teams (dietitians, nursing, therapy staff) to ensure diet accuracy, timing, and alignment with patient care plans
  • Lead, coach, and develop team members in a structured, high-accountability healthcare environment
  • Ensure accurate and timely meal delivery aligned with therapy schedules and patient needs
  • Maintain strong knowledge of therapeutic diets, food safety standards, and healthcare regulations
  • Drive operational excellence through inventory management, waste reduction, and cost control
  • Create a culture focused on compassion, service, and supporting patient recovery
  • Communicate effectively across all levels—leadership, clinical partners, and frontline team members
  • Other duties as directed
