About The Position

Canteen Services Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill a Full-Time Food Service Direct Support position to support multiple Correctional Facilities they service in Central and Southern Michigan. This role requires travel with a company car, overnight stays, and sometimes week-long stays. The ideal candidate will have a strong sense of character and the ability to perform well in a structured kitchen environment. Canteen's Correctional Food Services division has been a leader in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio since 1990, offering innovative food services, technology, and equipment. Companywide, they serve approximately 600,000 meals to inmates and seniors monthly with high levels of service and integrity.

Requirements

Must be able to travel to various locations.
Availability to work various shifts.
Availability to work weekends and holidays.
Must be able to do overtime if needed.
Successfully pass a background check.
Successfully pass a drug screen.
Successfully pass a motor vehicle report.

Nice To Haves

Previous food service or related experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Traveling between different locations in Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio to provide support where needed.
Assisting in prepping and preparing meals according to company recipes, including working with special diets and adjusting meals accordingly.
Overseeing and training inmates on food handling and cleanliness within the kitchen.
Taking temperatures to follow food safety guidelines and prepare for DOC inspections.
Maintaining constant communication with the Canteen team and the facility being serviced.
