About The Position

The Food Service Delivery Driver transports food and non-food items from production areas to customers. The driver must work closely with the staff and administration of the GAP Kitchen. Driver duties include loading food, transporting it to the destination, ensuring food safety standards are respected, and reporting any vehicle mechanical problems. The Driver must have a clean and safe driving record, excellent customer service, communication, time management, and teamwork skills. Requirements

  • Must be at least 22 years old.
  • Desire to continue career improvement.
  • Follow driving requirements and procedures of GAP Ministries, regardless of vehicle being used.
  • Be physically fit to perform job requirements and functions.
  • Have personal attitude, conduct and standards representing those qualities and values reflected in the ministry
  • Be able to respect and work cooperatively with a variety of persons, including coworkers, members of the board, food program clients, representatives of social service agencies, the public, volunteers and parents of GAP young adults.
  • Have the ability to stay calm in tense situations and utilize common sense and logic.
  • Successfully procure fingerprint clearance card and clear criminal history check. Central Registry background check.
  • Have at least one supportive personal reference of those listed on application.
  • Have a current driver license and meet the insurability requirements of GAP Ministries.
  • Be 22 years old to drive company vehicles; or at least 18 years old, able to use personal vehicle (mileage is reimbursed by agency when using personal vehicle), and maintain personal vehicle insurance with these minimum coverage requirements: Injury per person: $100,000, Injury per accident: $300,000, and Property damage: $25,000.
  • Must have a valid driver license in effect for at least 3 years, meet the insurability requirements of GAP Ministries, and provide a 36-month (but prefer 60-month) safe driving record (MVR) from Department of Motor Vehicles.
  • Must pass mandatory drug screen and physical examination as required by GAP Ministries and/or appropriate licensing authority.
  • Be able to perform various physical tasks, including but not limited to the following: Requires the ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods. Requires the ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials. Requires the ability to stoop, kneel, bend, reach and lift freely and without risk of injury as needed to perform job requirements. Lift and/or carry bags/boxes with and without assistance. Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments. Must be able to work in and around fumes and odors. Must comply with department dress code. Must be able to work in hot and cold environments. Must be able to run electrical equipment. Must be able to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
  • Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
  • Obtain medical release/permission to fulfill all physical tasks should any health issue develop or emerge during employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer 60-month safe driving record (MVR) from Department of Motor Vehicles.

Responsibilities

  • Transport food and non-food items to customer sites.
  • Ensure that all food delivery is completed in a timely manner as to meet schedule demands.
  • Verify that all supplies, paperwork, and menus are maintained according to kitchen and health code standards.
  • Maintain assigned schedule.
  • If used, maintain company vehicle in clean condition.
  • Maintain proper hygiene, sanitary and safety practices as regulated by GAP Kitchen and health codes.
  • Keep abreast of new information, innovative ideas and techniques.
  • If used, maintain fuel level of assigned company vehicle.
  • Follow traffic laws and drive in a safe manner to ensure safety of the driver and others on the road and maintain condition of the vehicle and delivery contents within the vehicle.
  • Immediately inform the Executive Chef of lateness or emergency mechanical failure.
  • Inform GAP Fleet Department of routine maintenance and repair needs and any accident.
  • Responsible for loading and unloading vehicle.
  • Responsible for accurate delivery of food and supplies as well as the condition of food and supplies.
  • Adhere to all GAP Kitchen and regulation agencies’ health and safety policies.
  • Attend all staff meetings and training sessions, or make arrangements with supervisor, to review video of missed meeting or training.
  • Represent GAP to the public in a positive, professional and responsible manner; this includes other staff members, interns, volunteers and/or students.
  • Follow agency chain of command in a responsible and supportive manner. Be able to accept constructive feedback and suggestions for improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Chef and appropriate administrators that are consistent with the general requirements and qualifications of the position.
