About The Position

The Food Service Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and assuring the security of assets, food quality, and compliance with food handling and storage regulations. This role also involves administrative and supervisory duties, including assisting with staff interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, and discipline. Additionally, the coordinator participates in quality assurance activities, leads inservices, documents quality indicators, monitors safety standards, and plans employee training. The position requires performing other duties as assigned to facilitate the operation of the Food and Nutrition Department.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education
  • 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

Nice To Haves

  • Administrative or technical background acquired through completion of 2 - 3 years of college
  • Culinary experience acquired through culinary school or years of experience in institutional setting.
  • 3-5 years of previous job-related experience

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and assures security of assets such as safe monies, two-way radios, computers, food product, equipment, keys, etc.
  • Monitors compliance to all guidelines and regulations for food handling and storage to assure proper food safety of all products.
  • Assesses operations and initiates necessary corrective actions per prevention-based food safety system Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP).
  • Completes and properly files required reports.
  • Assures appropriate food storage temperatures throughout department.
  • Communicates with department management regarding operational issues.
  • Assumes responsibility for daily opening and/or closing of operation.
  • Assists manager in staff interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling and discipline as necessary.
  • Assists with employee competency development and evaluation process.
  • Leads inservices prior to each meal period as needed.
  • Documents quality indicator and makes corrective action when indicated.
  • Monitors safety standards.
  • Documents accident and safety incidents of visitors and staff.
  • Plans, monitors and conducts employee training.
  • Participate in job related training and in-service education.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to facilitate the operation flow of the Food and Nutrition Department
