About The Position

The Food Service Coordinator (FSC) plays a vital leadership role in ensuring Fortune scholars receive nutritious, high-quality meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. This position oversees food service operations for Ephriam Williams College Prep and William Lee College Prep, coordinating daily meal preparation, ordering, food safety, and team support. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and passionate about creating a positive dining experience that supports our students’ health, focus, and success.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Knowledge of quantity food service preparation and safe food handling practices
  • Knowledge of health codes, sanitation standards, and food storage procedures
  • Knowledge of operation and maintenance of food service equipment
  • Knowledge of basic record keeping, reporting, and ordering procedures
  • Ability to lead and motivate food service staff
  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and comply with reporting timelines
  • Ability to communicate clearly with students, staff, and vendors
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, initiative, and attention to detail
  • Ability to demonstrate patience, professionalism, and teamwork
  • Ability to maintain punctual, reliable attendance

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a school or institutional food service program
  • Food Handler’s Certificate (required within 30 days of hire if not current)
  • Supervisory or leadership experience a plus

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and participate in the preparation, serving, and storage of meals in accordance with nutrition and safety standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized kitchen and dining area that meets or exceeds local health and safety regulations.
  • Supervise and train food service team members in safe and efficient work practices.
  • Schedule staff and manage daily workflow to ensure timely meal service.
  • Order, receive, and maintain inventory of food and supplies in coordination with the Central Office.
  • Monitor stock levels to minimize waste and control costs.
  • Maintain accurate records for compliance, including production logs, temperature checks, and meal counts.
  • Model Fortune’s values by providing a friendly, respectful, and service-oriented experience for all students.
  • Communicate effectively with school leaders, staff, and vendors.
  • Address student needs and questions with patience and professionalism.
  • Ensure all equipment and food handling procedures comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Practice and enforce proper sanitation and lifting techniques.
  • Support site inspections and audits as needed.
