The Food & Nutrition Services Cook and Baker (Assistant IIA) is responsible for performing skilled work in the preparation and service of nutritionally adequate, reimbursable meals. This role involves meeting production deadlines and ensuring the quality of food products. The position requires participation in ongoing state-approved training, demonstrating exceptional customer service, operating point of sale systems according to federal guidelines, and adhering to food safety rules, departmental procedures, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP). Duties include kitchen tasks such as pre-preparation, food production, service, backup, clean-up, and order check-in. The role also involves assisting with ordering, storage, and inventories, following recipes, operating food service equipment safely, maintaining a clean work environment, and ensuring sanitation practices are followed. Additionally, the cook may drive vans and refrigerated/freezer trucks to satellite sites for food delivery and other related tasks.
