This position involves performing cashiering and customer service duties in retail areas, including coffee carts. The role requires accurate cash collection and providing high-quality customer service. Responsibilities include maintaining clean, well-stocked, and attractive stations. The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, with 8-hour shifts generally running between 8pm-6:30am, and includes weekends and holidays. Additional shift differentials are offered for weekend and night shifts. The role is based at Banner - University Medical Center South, a comprehensive academic medical center in Tucson, Arizona, which includes an Emergency department, a state-designated trauma center, and a Behavioral Health Pavilion. The hospital is staffed by University of Arizona College of Medicine - Tucson faculty and managed by Banner Health. The position involves contact with patients, food service personnel, hospital staff, visitors, and families, requiring excellent customer service skills to resolve issues at the point of contact.

Requirements

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to accurately calculate and count change rapidly and repetitively
  • Good reading, writing, and math skills
  • Ability to learn food handling regulations and pass certification tests as required
  • Ability to learn Point of Sale cash register system, beverage brewing and/or dispensing equipment, and cleaning equipment

Nice To Haves

  • Barista experience
  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • Additional related education and/or experience

Responsibilities

  • Accurately record all sales in the Point of Sale System and transact payments with customers.
  • Store, count, deposit, and maintain register cash and receivables in accordance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Maintain all assigned stations, keeping them clean, well-stocked, and attractive at all times.
  • Provide service to customers, meeting standards and guidelines, and respond to customer complaints and assist with problem resolution.
  • May perform cleaning, stocking, sign maintenance, and other duties as assigned.
  • Interact with patients, other food service department personnel, hospital staff, visitors, and families, demonstrating excellent customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues at the point of contact.
