About The Position

Meriwether Godsey is hiring a Cafeteria/Food Services Associate at Sweet Briar College in Amherst, Virginia. This temporary position pays $14–$15 per hour and requires flexibility to work varied shifts, including mornings, evenings, and weekends. The associate welcomes customers, processes transactions, transports food and supplies, sets up and maintains cafeteria service areas, serves and replenishes food, and assists with food preparation and storage. The role also involves keeping cafeteria and kitchen areas clean and organized, sanitizing work areas and equipment, checking workstations against service standards, and participating in safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.

Requirements

1–2 years of related food service experience.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent communication and good organizational skills.
Flexibility to switch between locations and job duties.
Reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers with a positive and friendly attitude.
Operate registers, scanners, scales, and credit and debit card terminals, and handle exchanges efficiently.
Transport food and supplies to the cafeteria area.
Assist with setup, maintenance, and breakdown of cafeteria, food-serving, and beverage areas.
Serve and replenish food from counters and steam tables.
Assist in preparing hot and/or cold foods and store food properly, applying knowledge of temperature requirements and spoilage.
Keep cafeteria areas and assigned kitchen areas neat and organized.
Clean and sanitize work areas, dining tables, chairs, and equipment throughout and after meal periods.
Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in other kitchen areas by following daily and weekly cleaning assignments.
Inspect workstations for compliance with service standards.
Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
