About The Position

Meriwether Godsey is hiring a full-time Food Service Associate at a private school in Norfolk, Virginia. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The role supports cafeteria service by welcoming customers, operating point-of-sale equipment, transporting food and supplies, setting up and maintaining service areas, serving and replenishing food, and assisting with food preparation and storage. The associate also keeps dining and kitchen areas clean and organized, follows sanitation and safety practices, checks workstations against service standards, and participates in safety meetings and training. The work environment is fast-paced, team-oriented, and high-energy, with opportunities for training, mentorship, growth, and career advancement.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Flexibility and ability to switch between locations and job duties.

Nice To Haves

ServSafe Food Handler Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers with a positive and friendly attitude.
Operate registers, scanners, scales, and credit/debit card terminals, and handle exchanges efficiently.
Transport food and supplies to the cafeteria and assist with setup, maintenance, and breakdown of cafeteria, food-serving, and beverage areas.
Serve and replenish food at counters and steam tables.
Assist with preparing hot and cold foods and store food properly, following temperature requirements and spoilage guidance.
Keep dining room and assigned kitchen areas neat and organized.
Clean and sanitize work areas, dining tables, chairs, and equipment during and after meal periods.
Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of another kitchen area by completing daily and weekly cleaning assignments.
Inspect workstations for compliance with service standards.
Participate in regular safety meetings, safety training, and hazard assessments.
