About The Position

This position is responsible for requisitioning supplies and replenishing inventory. It involves hot and cold food production for retail services, maintaining a sanitary and organized environment, and practicing food safety codes. The role also includes serving customers in a professional manner with excellent customer service. Key functions include preparing various food items, setting up for café sales, monitoring food and equipment temperatures, maintaining refrigeration units, and ensuring a clean and sanitary work area. The associate may also be involved in cooking at various stations, deep cleaning, and sanitizing equipment. A working knowledge of applicable laws, Trinity Health's Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, and other policies and procedures is required to ensure ethical and professional behavior.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Knowledge of several subjects in order to prepare reports, perform calculations and/or deal effectively with other people.
  • Ability to read and write.
  • Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
  • Must possess a personal presence characterized by a sense of honesty, integrity, and caring with the ability to inspire and motivate others.
  • Ability to maintain both a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers, patients, and visitors and satisfactory job performance despite the stress of a hospital work environment.

  • Medium work: Exerting up to 40 pounds maximum infrequently and/or up to 25 pounds frequently to lift or move objects about and requiring prolonged walking/standing.
  • Ability to read menus and recipes.
  • Ability to calculate amounts of food and supplies to requisition.
  • Ability to use proper measuring tools for portion control.
  • Adaptability to performing repetitive work or to performing continuously the same work, according to set procedures, sequence or pace.

Responsibilities

  • Requisitions supplies and replenishes inventory.
  • Performs hot and cold food production for retail services.
  • Maintains a sanitary and organized environment.
  • Practices and abides by food codes and applicable regulatory and accrediting agency requirements.
  • Serves customers in a professional manner with great customer service.
  • Prepares sliced fruit, vegetables, desserts, and meats for retail production and sales.
  • Sets up for café sales, stocking food and paper products.
  • Checks food temperatures frequently throughout the shift and documents them.
  • Monitors temperatures of freezers, refrigeration, dishwasher, and heating units throughout the shift and documents them.
  • Maintains refrigeration units in clean, orderly condition, compliant with food codes and regulatory agencies.
  • Requisitions, transports, and replenishes foods and supplies to replenish inventory in the café.
  • Inspects items for integrity, rotates stock, and disposes of outdated products.
  • Properly wraps, labels, and dates food items.
  • Portions and packages cold food items; stocks and cleans refrigerated display cases.
  • Makes coffee, juice, and smoothies; replenishes and cleans beverage-dispensing machines and areas.
  • Maintains a clean and sanitary work area, café serving and seating area, and equipment.
  • Pushes food carts, racks, and dish bins.
  • May cook at the grill, fryer, or sandwich grill.
  • Deep cleans refrigerators, countertops, cupboards, tile, and entire café serving and seating areas.
  • Cleans and sanitizes utensils and equipment.
  • Maintains signage daily.
  • Uses standardized and non-standardized recipes and ingredients to prepare, create, and process foods.
  • Assists in other areas as requested.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, Trinity Health’s Organizational Integrity Program, Standards of Conduct, and other policies and procedures.
