About The Position

This Food Service Associate position is a temporary summer role responsible for a wide range of duties within Nutrition & Food Service facilities, including patient meal services and cafeteria operations. Key tasks involve operating cash registers, preparing and assembling various food items such as salads, sandwiches, and beverages, and servicing patient meals, including delivery and tray collection. The role also encompasses maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in the dish room, washing equipment, and managing waste removal. Additionally, the associate will deliver and pick up patient meal trays for Cape Psych Center and is expected to perform all duties in compliance with hospital and regulatory standards, consistently providing service excellence reflecting Cape Cod Hospital’s CARES values.

  • Ability to communicate in English to understand and respond to basic verbal and written English language instruction.
  • Ability to make change (for cash register operation).

Responsibilities

  • Communicate in English to understand and respond to basic verbal and written English language instruction.
  • Operate the cash registers with ability to make change.
  • Slice meats and cheeses.
  • Prepare and assemble foods including but not limited to fruits, salad type vegetables, salad mixes (veg. & meat), between meal nourishments, tube feedings, gelatins, salads, sandwiches, juices, coffee for the Nutrition & Food Service facilities.
  • Service patient meals including between meal snacks, tube feedings, floor kitchenette stock and sanitation.
  • Deliver patient meals.
  • Collect patient trays from patient floors.
  • Prepare and assemble cold foods.
  • Assemble patient trays and hot and cold beverages.
  • Service the cafeteria including all aspects of the service areas including grill and cashiering.
  • Work in the dish room.
  • Wash, rinse and sanitize pots and pans, equipment, floors, walls, and storage areas.
  • Remove trash, garbage, cardboard, milk & bread crates.
  • Deliver and pick up patient meal trays for Cape Psych Center.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with hospital, local and regulatory standards.
  • Perform other work related duties and activities as assigned or requested.
