About The Position

The Food Service Associate is responsible for patient meal and food service to support patient satisfaction. Patients may range from infancy through late adulthood. The role reports to the Supervisor of Food Service and receives guidance and input from the Lead Food Service Associate. The associate may be assigned across multiple areas and cross-trained in duties including tray line, storeroom, food preparation, and dish room or pot area work.

Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent preferred.
Previous food service experience of 6 months or more preferred, but not required.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Interact with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistently with Jefferson’s values.
Set up and stock the assigned station before service and for the next meal.
May retrieve patient meal trays to support sanitary, safe, and timely meal service.
Maintain floor stock according to par levels and record usage.
Handle food according to sanitary and safety guidelines and follow applicable policies and procedures.
Prepare food using recipes to provide consistent, safe, nutritionally appropriate meals that meet cost and budget requirements.
Comply with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines.
May prepare or serve hot or cold beverages and serve prepared foods.
Store leftovers appropriately and use them in subsequent menus within the required timeframe.
May package, label, and date hot food items for patient service and cafeteria operations according to cook-and-chill guidelines, and vacuum-pack food products as required.
May work across areas of need, including tray line, storeroom, and food preparation.
May work in the dish room or pot area to clean and sanitize equipment according to department standards.
Maintain proper care and safe storage of food and equipment and maintain the surrounding area.
Complete daily and special cleaning assignments to provide a sanitary and safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
