About The Position

This role involves working in various stations within the patient meal service area and retail areas. Responsibilities include delivering carts, meals, and supplies to patient units, performing dishwashing and pot washing, serving food in retail areas, and stocking supplies. The position also requires filling in for cross-trained roles within the department. Maintaining a sanitary work area, preparing and storing food according to HACCP guidelines, and practicing good hygiene are crucial. This includes proper hand washing, wearing hair restraints and gloves, utilizing FIFO for storage, and recording food temperatures. Additionally, the role requires checking sanitizer levels, recording dish machine temperatures, and using two patient identifiers for tray delivery. Safety is paramount, involving the safe use of equipment, adherence to cleaning guidelines, following MSDS for chemicals, and using proper body mechanics for lifting and carrying. Excellent customer service skills are expected in all interactions, along with answering questions about café food items and handling service recovery. The role also includes receiving and distributing messages in a timely manner. Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED or higher level of education.
  • Zero (0) to One (1) year of experience in food service, sanitation, or service industry.
  • Strong leadership ability

  • Sound judgment
  • Knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) to Three (3) years’ experience in Food Service.
  • Experience in Healthcare setting.
  • ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Utilizes FIFO when obtaining foods from storage areas.
  • Takes and records temperatures of food during meal periods.
  • Checks sanitizer in pots area with test strips and records at each fill.
  • Records dish machine temperatures each meal period.
  • Uses two patient identifiers when delivering trays to patients.
  • Uses equipment in a safe manner; reports any issues immediately.
  • Cleans equipment according to established guidelines.
  • Refers to and follows MSDS guidelines for chemical usage and storage.
  • Uses proper body techniques in lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
  • Performs excellent customer service skills with all customers and coworkers.
  • Answers questions about prepared café food items.
  • Handles service recovery immediately or involves supervisor as needed.
  • Receives and distributes all messages in a timely manner.
