About The Position

The Cafeteria Food Service Associate works under the supervision of the Manager, Lead or Resource. Delivers outstanding customer service to patients, their guests and hospital caregivers. Prepares and serves food and beverages. Performs cashier duties, replenishes food and supplies and maintains clean serving areas. Trained on all duties within the cafeteria. Cross-trained to perform various positions for Room Service and Production areas of the department. Operates, monitors, and cleans any equipment used to perform job duties.

Requirements

Must be able to travel between various system facilities and off-site locations as needed.
Inputs customer's selection in cash register using precise hand/eye coordination.
Speaks clearly while talking on the telephone.
Hand/Eye coordination in using utensils to dip or prepare proper portions of food for customers.
Courteous and excellent customer service skills.
Cooperates with fellow caregivers.
Ability to stoop, stand, reach, climb, lift, push, walk, and operate equipment.
Ability to move from area to area to gather supplies and serve customers.
Ability to stand entire shift at grill, steam tables and register.
Operates various pieces of equipment such as the grill, register, soft serve machine, coffee machine and steam tables.
Ability to follow procedures and instruction on operation of equipment and serving customers.
Ability to operate the cash register.
Organizes work process to meet meal service deadlines.
Ability to inspect foods for quality by taste, smell and visually.
Ability to listen to customer requests.

Nice To Haves

H.S. Diploma
Previous cafeteria experience; grill and/or cash register or customer relation’s experience.

Responsibilities

Communicates appropriately, speaks respectfully at all times with patients, families, visitors, and all other caregivers, addressing them by name and responding to needs or requests for assistance promptly and courteously
Prepares, portions and serves food and beverages as ordered by customers. Sets up, portions and serves prepared food, including hot food, salads and desserts.
Replenishes food and supplies.
Processes all food and supplies according to sanitary regulations.
Maintain food temperature logs.
Properly stores and labels all food items.
Pass Food Safety test with a score of 85% or higher.
Operates cash register and accuracy must be within 1% of sales.
Maintains cleanliness of work areas and all customer areas.
Operates equipment according to sanitary and safety regulations.
Other duties as assigned
