About The Position

Sanford Health, the largest rural health system in the United States, is dedicated to transforming the health care experience and providing access to world-class health care in America’s heartland. This is a part-time position with a scheduled weekly hours of 22. The role involves working every other Saturday and Sunday, with holiday rotation required. Weekday training and orientation are also necessary. The Food Service Assistant is responsible for various duties including monitoring and recording food temperatures, maintaining a clean serving area, preparing and serving food, restocking, cleaning equipment, and processing payments using a computerized register. The position requires compliance with HACCP guidelines, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining quality control standards. The role may involve operating various kitchen equipment and requires the ability to work independently, understand food safety, and be on your feet for extended periods.

Requirements

Minimum of 16 years of age
Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions
Ability to perform basic math

Nice To Haves

Previous customer service experience
Retail counting and reconciliation of money
Knowledge of food service
Experience working in the food industry
Serv Safe may be required to obtain within a designated time frame (depending upon location of hire)
Basic Life Support (BLS) may be required (depending upon location requirements)

Responsibilities

Monitoring and recording proper temperature of food
Setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area
Preparing and serving food items
Restocking food areas
Cleaning and sanitizing equipment
Receiving payment for food and beverages using a computerized register
Complies with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service
Provides outstanding customer service and effectively communicates with patrons and co-workers
Demonstrates ability to establish effective working relationships
Maintains quality control standards
Operates equipment such as, but not limited to, grills, beverage machines, toasters, ice cream dispensers, cash registers, computerized cash registers, steam equipment, dishwashers, telephones, refrigerators and freezers
Works independently when necessary
Possesses an understanding of food safety and sanitation processes
Demonstrates ability to be on feet for the majority of the day and walk far distances
