About The Position

The Food Service Assistant works on the Food Nutrition Service Team in a healthcare setting, helping produce and serve patient meals and providing restaurant-style dining for residents and their families. Duties include minimal food preparation, food delivery, kitchen cleaning, and other assigned work. The role offers opportunities to interact with residents and families and to contribute culinary skills in a team environment.

The position is part-time, with a regular schedule of Saturday and Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; additional weekday shifts may be available.

Responsibilities

• Assist with receiving and storing food and supplies to prevent waste and maintain product quality.
• Date, label, and properly store items.
• Use proper food-handling techniques.
• Scrape, stack, wash, and sanitize dishes, flatware, utensils, pots, and pans; remove broken or chipped dishes and glassware from use.
• Wrap flatware when needed.
• Properly transport and store dishes, flatware, utensils, pots, and pans.
• Maintain sufficient quantities of clean, sanitized dishware and utensils to meet meal preparation and service schedules.
• Clean and sanitize the dish machine and dish room.
• Empty and clean and sanitize trash cans.
• Keep the work area clean and uncluttered and complete assigned cleaning duties.
• Assist with minimal food preparation and food delivery.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
