About The Position

Climax-Scotts Community Schools is seeking a dependable and student-focused Food Service Assistant Cook for Climax-Scotts Jr./Sr. High School. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. each school day. The successful candidate will help prepare and serve nutritious meals while maintaining a clean, safe, organized, and welcoming kitchen environment.

Requirements

  • ServSafe certification required, or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire
  • Dependable attendance, punctuality, and a positive, service-oriented attitude
  • Ability to work cooperatively and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and coworkers
  • Strong decision-making, organizational, and communication skills, with commitment to appropriate hygiene and food-service sanitation standards
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and to lift or move food, supplies, and kitchen items as required, with or without reasonable accommodation

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of or experience with food preparation, including nutritious meal preparation, is preferred
  • Previous experience in school food service, a commercial kitchen, cafeteria, restaurant, or similar setting
  • Familiarity with USDA meal pattern requirements, production records, and school nutrition procedures
  • Commitment to maintaining a welcoming, student-centered food service environment

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve student breakfast and lunch each school day in accordance with district menus and food service procedures
  • Review daily menus and determine appropriate quantities of food to prepare to meet USDA meal pattern requirements
  • Maintain high standards of food safety, sanitation, cleanliness, and organization throughout the kitchen and serving areas
  • Maintain accurate production records and required documentation for food, beverages, supplies used, and remaining inventory
  • Assist with weekly ordering and with receiving, checking in, storing, and properly handling deliveries
  • Communicate equipment malfunctions, supply concerns, and other operational needs to the Food Service Director
  • Complete dishes, kitchen cleanup, and end-of-service sanitation tasks each day
  • Complete required annual training and continuing education requirements while providing courteous, respectful service to students and staff
