About The Position

University Housing is looking for individuals to join our Dining and Culinary Services Food Service Assistant Advanced team! The Food Service Assistant Advanced prepares and serves food according to quality and safety standards to ensure customer satisfaction and achieve departmental food service goals. As a Food Service Assistant Advanced in University Housing you will: Interact with English speaking customers while displaying knowledge of food products, allergens, and food safety. Perform duties in a high-volume, dynamic, student residential dining environment. Demonstrate and role model exceptional customer service. Provide support and assist as needed in the implementation of plans and procedures in the event of an emergency. Be part of the Dining and Culinary Services team that serves the residents of the University Residence Halls, as well as UW-Madison students, faculty, staff, and the general public.

Requirements

• 6 months of food service experience in a professional setting
• English Proficiency Required - This position requires the ability to speak, read, and understand verbal instructions in English.

Nice To Haves

• 1 year of food service experience in a professional setting
• ServSafe Food Handler or Manager Certified (current or expired)
• High School diploma preferred

Responsibilities

• Adheres to federal, state, and local food safety regulations, policies, and procedures
• Performs routine food preparation activities such as portioning, chopping food, and serving food to customers
• Greets customers, answers questions, and provides basic information regarding food preparation and associated activities
• Cleans, inspects, and maintains kitchen equipment and work areas
• Assists and guides student workers
• Prepares a variety of basic dishes such as sandwiches and salads, and assists in the preparation of more complex dishes
• Coordinates and performs the set-up and clean-up of preparation, production, service areas, catering events, and equipment
