About The Position

The Food Service Aide plays an important role in Exalt Health's patient care team, working collaboratively with culinary staff to ensure patients receive nourishing meals that support their recovery. This position requires a combination of food service skills, attention to detail, and a passion for providing excellent service to our patients, staff, and visitors. The Food Service Aide will assist the cook in various tasks, including meal preparation, plating, delivery, and clean-up, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment for all. In this role, you will interact directly with patients, delivering meals with a smile and ensuring their dietary needs and preferences are met. Your ability to maintain a positive and professional demeanor will contribute to a welcoming and supportive atmosphere within the hospital.

Requirements

  • Hold a current Food Handler's Certificate recognized in Texas, Arizona, or Florida.
  • Organizes and prioritizes tasks and projects, accurately completing job responsibilities within the specified time constraints.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under deadlines and handle multiple tasks.
  • Speaks and communicates English effectively in verbal and written format; writes legibly.
  • Reading and comprehension at the level necessary to perform job duties appropriately.
  • Works cooperatively with co-workers and other hospital employees
  • Physical stamina for tasks that involve standing, bending, and lifting.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Basic food preparation skills, knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices, excellent customer service and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in food service, preferably in a healthcare setting, is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the cook in preparing meals according to standardized recipes and menus, ensuring proper portioning and adherence to dietary restrictions.
  • Assemble patient meal trays accurately, following dietary guidelines and ensuring visually appealing meals. Deliver meals to patients in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Serve food to staff and visitors in the cafeteria, maintaining a clean and organized serving area.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment according to established sanitation procedures. Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Communicate with patients in a friendly and professional manner, addressing any questions or concerns they may have regarding their meals.
  • Adhere to HIPAA regulations and maintain protected health information (PHI) privacy to safeguard patient confidentiality.
  • Assist with food deliveries, stocking supplies, and other tasks as assigned by the Food Service Manager.
