About The Position

When you join the growing BILH team, you're not just taking a job, you’re making a difference in people’s lives. This position is part-time, 20 hours per week, with an evening shift from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. It involves rotating weekends and holidays. The role requires the individual to display courtesy and professionalism while providing timely and helpful service to patients, visitors, physicians, and associates. Key duties include monitoring food quality and temperatures, distributing and collecting patient meal trays, assisting dietitians with patient feedback, managing inventory and ordering of supplies, operating and cleaning the dishwashing equipment, washing pots and pans, setting up assigned areas, portioning food items, preparing and delivering special or late trays, and maintaining cleanliness of assigned areas and equipment.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write and communicate verbally at 10th grade level in order to follow work instructions.
  • On the job training of approximately one month is provided.
  • Frequent bending, carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, standing, stooping, walking and lifting over 10 lbs.
  • Occasional need for climbing stairs, lifting in excess of 50 – 100 lbs and sitting.
  • Constant use of hearing, sight and speech.
  • Frequent use of smell and touch.
  • Frequent keyboard and telephone use.
  • Constant concentration and problem solving.

Responsibilities

  • Displays courtesy and professionalism at all times while providing timely, helpful service to all patients, visitors, physicians and associates.
  • Checks food temperatures before and during meal service; monitors quality of product.
  • Distributes and collects patient meal trays and nourishments.
  • Assists dieticians by obtaining information (oral and written) relative to patient acceptance of meals and quality of food service.
  • Performs daily inventory and ordering of food and paper supplies as well as maintaining cleanliness of assigned areas. Stock assigned areas according to procedures. Put stock away according to procedure.
  • Prepares dishwasher for operation, unloads dishwasher after completion, returns dishes, trays, pots, small wares to proper areas. Cleans and close dish room according to procedure.
  • Washes pots and pans according to set procedure.
  • Sets up assigned area, such as tray set-up, hot food beverage, following written instructions, including stocking supplies.
  • Places menu items on tray in proper portion sizes neatly.
  • May prepare and deliver special or late trays according to direction.
  • Returns supplies and food to proper location. Cleans and organizes assigned area. Clean trucks, carts, equipment and other areas as assigned.
