About The Position

Cottage Hospital is seeking a friendly, organized, and passionate Food Service Aide to join their team. The Food Service Aide will be responsible for greeting customers, handling payments, assisting with food preparation and service, and performing cleanup duties. Responsibilities

  • Receives payment for food and drinks from visitors and staff.
  • Greets all customers promptly and courteously.
  • Responsible for the service of food.
  • Performs clean-up after meals.
  • Operates the cafeteria.
  • Performs departmental housekeeping by following food safety standards and practices.
  • Keeps all dietary staff aware of any concerns or problems.
  • Operates equipment according to policies and procedures.
  • Understands the safe use of all chemicals used in the department (MSDS sheets).
  • Is knowledgeable regarding the hospital fire and disaster procedure, and actions to take.
  • Follows sanitation and infection control measures according to policies and procedures.
  • Responds to improper temperature appropriately and quickly.
  • Follows proper hand hygiene practices.
  • Completes food preparation/production by following policies and procedures.
  • Assists cooks as requested in food preparation.
  • Checks all menus, patients, and staff for food items.
  • May function in other capacities as needed and or scheduled.
  • Completes patient food service according to policies and procedures.
  • Delivers trays to nursing floors and patients and notifies nurse if assistance is needed.
  • Checks back with patients to see if any items are needed and/or for additional requests.
  • Is knowledgeable of diets and how food fits into them.
  • Maintains nursing units floor stock.
  • Responsible for the dining-room including cleaning and set-ups following policies and procedures.
  • Keeps cafeteria and equipment clean and functioning correctly.
  • Maintains assigned inventory.
  • Has overall responsibility for the dish machine and its area including maintenance and cleaning.
  • Is responsible for all the dishes.
  • Performs department housekeeping following established policies and procedures.
  • Puts deliveries away; keeps all areas clean following schedules and/or as needed.
  • Maintains required education for the position.
  • Maintains D/10 service and attitude.
  • Maintains department records and reports.
