Food Service Aide
About The Position
This role involves preparing and operating a tray assembly line for patient feedings, operating a dish machine, preparing special nourishments, and preparing and delivering trays. The position also includes serving and distributing food, supplies, snacks, and nourishments. Additionally, the role involves serving at the Employee Cafeteria service counter and/or in the catering area, performing cashier duties in the Employee Cafeteria, and replenishing stations such as the salad bar, soda, pastry, cold food, and hot entrees. Cashier responsibilities include accurately ringing up sales, making correct change, demonstrating knowledge of prices and menu items, and adhering to cashiering policies for various customer types. The role also entails performing routine sanitation and replenishment tasks in the kitchen, cafeteria, and patient service areas according to departmental and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Ability to read and understand written instructions.
- No previous experience required.
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Certification required as a Food Handler from the City of Paterson or similar food safety certification; must obtain within 1 week of hire and maintain certification.
- Analytical ability to read & understand instructions.
- Ability to add & subtract numbers.
- Ability to make comparisons between numbers and letters.

- Three to six months on the job training and orientation.
Responsibilities

- Follow established procedures in activities related to ringing up sales accurately and making correct change for customers.
- Demonstrate knowledge of prices and of menu items.
- Adhere to cashiering policies ensuring all sales accounts are rung up accurately.
- Ensure all information is entered in cash register accurately on the appropriate key.
- Perform a wide variety of routine tasks of sanitation/replenishment in the kitchen, cafeteria, and patient service areas according to departmental and regulatory standards.
