About The Position

The Food Server ("Mesero/a") provides courteous, timely, and professional service in the restaurant. This role requires complete knowledge of all menus and pricing, as well as a proactive, customer-oriented attitude. The server will welcome guests with a smile and a friendly, courteous greeting.

Requirements

• At least 1-2 years of relevant experience and/or training. A combination of experience, education, and/or training may be substituted for either requirement.
• Availability to work on weekends and holidays is required.
• Must be able to attain a valid San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire.
• RBS certification required.
• Ability to always maintain a friendly, professional, team-oriented, positive demeanor and diplomatic attitude, especially under stress or challenges.
• Ability to stand, kneel, squat for prolonged periods of time, up to and including, the entire shift and lift up to 25 lbs.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in a fine dining restaurant environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cordially and professionally presents menu, answers questions, and makes suggestions regarding food and service.
• Employs suggestive selling techniques to stimulate sales.
• Actively observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when a meal has been completed.
• Checks with the guest after 3-4 minutes after serving the meals, in order to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Follows cash and credit card handling policies at all times.
• Is responsible for entire section of tables (cleanliness, sanitation, organization, etc.).
• Is responsible for complete knowledge of menus, including cooking time, ingredients, etc.
• Performs additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the leadership team.
