About The Position

The FSQA Technician reports to the FSQA Supervisor and collects data that supports KettleWork’s Quality Assurance program. The ideal candidate will have proven ability to perform well on any of the assigned tasks. The candidate will be a quality-focused individual who is passionate and driven to deliver best in class performance and continuously improves what and how we do our work to ensure business success. The individual is driven by teamwork, integrity, and easily works cross-functionally. This role is responsible for monitoring operational procedures, evaluating products/materials, recording data, and reporting quality concerns to the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Experience in a food processing or laboratory environment.
  • Able to maintain a positive attitude within a team environment.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be effective in pressure situations.
  • Have schedule flexibility with potential for night and weekend shifts.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • HACCP, SQF, GMP, PCQI certifications
  • Aseptic processing experience
  • Previous experience in a quality department or executing quality procedures

Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality inspections throughout the production process at scheduled intervals.
  • Document product test results and report non-conformances to the FSQA Supervisor.
  • Ensure ALL employees are following Food and Employee safety procedures with the responsibility to correct or report lapses as needed.
  • Document soiled tools and equipment for review and correction with the sanitation department.
  • Adhere to company record keeping protocols and industry regulations.
  • Maintain detailed records of product/material inspections, HACCP-related checks, non-conforming materials, facility inspections, shift change reports, and quality concerns.
  • Monitor, create and update documentation for prerequisite programs to support food safety systems.
  • Operate testing equipment including but not limited to thermometers, refractometers, sodium and salt meters, and pH readers.
  • Collect Environmental and Product samples for in-house and third-party testing.
  • Monitor inventory levels of QA laboratory supplies.
  • Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Report and address safety hazards, ensuring compliance with OSHA and GMP standards.
  • Report any maintenance or repair issues identified to the appropriate personnel.
  • Assist in monitoring the lockout/tagout program.
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with the front office personnel, sanitation staff, production staff, and USDA/FDA Inspectors.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding quality issues and concerns.
  • Document quality concerns or non-conformances in shift notes, then communicate observations to the QA technician for the subsequent shift.
  • Thoroughly clean and sanitize machinery, pre-batching areas, and workspaces to maintain a safe and organized environment for the next shift.
  • Perform appropriate duties as assigned by management.
  • Maintain a safe and clean workspace.
  • Actively looks for and identifies opportunities for improvement and efficiency.
  • Develop the skills and competencies of QA by participating in trainings (internal and external) and learning on the job.
