About The Position

Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions, is seeking a Food Safety Auditor to join their Business Assurance team. This role involves performing assessments against food safety management systems in manufacturing and service industries. The auditor will travel extensively across North America, conducting audits to help companies improve their food safety practices. Requirements

  • Bachelors of higher-level Food Science Disciplined Degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Currently Qualified as a Food Safety Lead Auditor in any GFSI benchmarked scheme (SQF, BRC, FSSC22000, IFS).
  • Willingness to travel up to 85% of the time, including weekend travel globally.
  • Ability to work under difficult conditions in diverse cultural and physical environments.
  • 2 years of previous work experience in food safety, food packaging, or food ingredients manufacturing.
  • Audit Log with a minimum of 140 hours of 3rd party FSMS auditing experience.
  • Knowledge of USDA/FDA regulations.
  • Certificate in HACCP Implementation or PCQI.
  • Knowledge of GFSI standards and certification process.
  • Knowledge, or general understanding, of various management system standards and guidelines.
  • Basic technical ability with Microsoft Office 365 products, and various word-processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Valid Driver’s License and reliable driving record.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated and reliable with a strong independent work ethic.
  • Ability to ask questions and present findings.
  • Strong organization, creativity, and project management skills.
  • Full commitment to conduct business with the utmost integrity and in full compliance with the law.
  • Willing and able to travel extensively (primarily domestic, some international may be needed, typically USA+Canada+Mexico).
  • Comfortable traveling 3 to 5 nights per week.
  • Reside in and be able to legally work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct food safety audits of client facilities.
  • Provide technical training to management and employees on food safety programs, integrated pest management, operational methods, personnel practices, maintenance for food safety, and cleaning practices.
  • Prepare written reports summarizing observations and recommending corrective actions.
  • Travel extensively (up to 85%) to provide practical and technical support to the food and beverage industry through in-person and virtual training, consulting, and inspections.
  • Conduct document reviews and pre-assessments to ensure standard requirements are met and provide feedback.
  • Prepare and send Audit Plans to auditees.
  • Arrange travel plans for audit team members.
  • Conduct Opening and Closing Meetings, explaining audit objectives, scope, and process.
  • Conduct audits by interviewing personnel, making observations, inspecting facilities, and sampling records to ensure conformity to applicable standards.
  • Liaise with other team members to validate findings.
  • Present findings to customers and advise them on Intertek requirements for addressing non-conformances.
  • Assess corrections, corrective actions/plans, and corresponding evidence.
  • Prepare the Audit Report.
  • Review team members' documentation for accuracy and completeness as a Lead Auditor.
  • Ensure all required documents are in place for presentation to the Registration Review Team.
  • Respond to any Review Findings.
  • Other duties as assigned.
