About The Position

The Food Runner is responsible for delivering all food menu items and accurately describing them to the guests. This role acts as a liaison between the servers and chefs. The Food Runner interacts with guests, fellow team members, and supervisors in a polite, courteous, and hospitable manner to ensure an exemplary experience. The position requires anticipating and accommodating all needs of the guests, providing professional and exceptional service, and performing table maintenance and bussing of excess tableware. Maintaining general cleanliness of all venue areas throughout service is also a key function. The role involves following supervisor’s instructions, communicating with and supporting co-workers, and being a team player. A comprehensive knowledge of all food menus, the venue, and the company is expected, along with general knowledge of all beverage menus and ingredients used in food items as it pertains to allergies. Compliance with Department of Health standards is mandatory. The Food Runner communicates guest needs to Front-of-House and Heart-of-House support staff, managers, and chefs. Responsibilities also include properly setting up the runner’s station, performing side-work, and other opening/closing procedures as directed by management, such as stocking stations and performing prescribed side-work. Reporting all breakage and damage of equipment or furniture immediately to management is required. The role includes attending and participating in daily pre-service meetings, training sessions, and departmental meetings. Learning by listening, observing other team members, and sharing knowledge while leading by example are important aspects of the position. A positive and professional attitude, along with knowledge of Tao Group Hospitality, its partners, and supporting hotel environments, is expected. The Food Runner works as part of a team, providing help and support to all fellow team members, and may assist with or complete additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements

Ability to write, read, and verbally communicate.
Must have good positive energy throughout the day.
Must be able to print legibly for Team Members, management, and guests to read.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
Must be able to move quickly.
Must be able to push and lift up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance.
Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of noise, crowds, and smoke, the severity of which depends upon the guest volume.
May work extended hours irregular shifts, evening and/or weekend shifts, and holiday work may be required.
Exposure to cleaning materials.
Office, Casino, Nightclub, Bar, Lounge, and/or Restaurant working environment.
Maintain a professional, neat, and well-groomed appearance adhering to Company standards.
Must be effective as part of a team; ability to interact with internal and external customers, managers, and co-workers in a professional, courteous manner.
Ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ability to handle a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment.

Nice To Haves

Previous hospitality experience, preferred.
Previous food running experience preferred.
Previous experience in a high-volume restaurant/nightclub/lounge, preferred.
