About The Position

Pawsperity opened its doors in January 2016 as the country’s only nonprofit grooming school. Our mission is to empower families to become self-reliant through job training, life skills, and practical solutions to end their cycle of poverty. This role is a Part-Time Food Pantry Coordinator with an hourly rate of $16.00 and a schedule of 15 hours per week: Monday 9-2, Wednesday 10-3, and Thursday 11-4. Some flexibility is needed for potential future changes by Pawsperity's food partners.

Requirements

  • Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Collaborative with the ability to communicate professionally with employees, volunteers, students, and partners of the organization.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds
  • Professional representative of the agency.
  • Basic computer skills and comfortable learning volunteer software.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts the weekly food partner ordering (Harvesters, Bishop Store House, etc.)
  • Schedules, coordinates, and ensures routine communication with volunteers transporting food runs, as well as putting food away/out
  • Cleans/maintains pantry area or assigning volunteers to assist with this ongoing project (e.g., checking dates on cans, maintaining organization)
  • Oversees items that are not getting used frequently and suggests usage for the commercial kitchen
  • Keeps the Culinary Volunteer Team up to date with necessary communication regarding upcoming group activities
  • Oversees Volgistics
  • Ensures volunteer shifts are covered by Culinary Volunteers; steps in to fill gaps if necessary
  • Identifies with Culinary Volunteers that cooking projects are identified in advance and all items, including ingredients, are available; orders items if not
  • Schedules and communicates regularly with food volunteers, including reminder emails and calls for those who signed up for shifts
  • Solicits volunteers when regular food volunteers are out of town or sick
  • Provides training when necessary
  • Works closely with the Culinary Volunteer Team
  • Greets and thanks volunteers when possible
  • Learns/uses Volgistics, Pawsperity’s volunteer program software, to accurately account for/manage hours for the pantry and kitchen
  • Assists with monthly volunteer reporting narrative
  • Ensures kitchen equipment is in working order; communicates with operations if something needs to be fixed (submit ticket, etc.)
  • Orders necessary kitchen items within the kitchen budget
  • Keeps the pantry and commercial kitchen in compliance with all health department protocol (e.g., report refrigeration and freezer temperatures; post signage)
  • Works collaboratively to achieve agency goals in a manner reflective of the mission of Pawsperity.
