Under the direct supervision of the Dietary Director, the Food Production Specialist 1 performs a variety of patient and/or cafeteria food service duties, as well as other related tasks. This role assists with tray assembly, transport of food carts, and delivery of trays to and from patient care units. The specialist is responsible for all ware washing for retail and patient services, including flatware, china, glassware, and kitchen pot/pans, as well as emptying tray carts in the cafeteria. They will perform needed sanitation tasks, including trash removal, and maintain high standards of food and physical safety, sanitation, and the daily use and care of equipment and tools. The position requires following proper labeling, rotation, and quality control practices, and the individual will be cross-trained on other duties throughout the food service department. The role demands the ability to work with little or no supervision, follow posted work schedules, payroll procedures, and attendance guidelines. Flexible hours, days off, and overtime may be required based on operational workloads. Maintaining a professional appearance and demeanor, promoting teamwork, and presenting a positive role model are essential. The individual must work quickly and well under strict time deadlines and may be asked to assist in other areas and perform other duties as assigned.
