About The Position

The Assistant, Food Pantry will play a crucial role in supporting our mission to enhance the well-being of the communities we serve. In this role, you will contribute to the efficient operation of our food pantry, ensuring that individuals have access to nutritious food resources. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a nonprofit or community service setting.
  • Valid Government Issued Driver’s License.
  • Knowledge of and sensitivity to the HIV/AIDS patient population, and/or an eagerness to learn about this community.
  • Flexibility in response to change, adapting quickly to shifting priorities.
  • Must have valid drivers license.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist clients accessing the food pantry with empathy and respect, ensuring a positive and dignified experience for all individuals seeking assistance.
  • Collaborate with other program staff to maintain accurate inventory records, monitor stock levels, organize shelves, and track expiration dates to minimize waste.
  • Participate in the smooth operation of food distribution processes, packing and distributing food items according to established guidelines, ensuring equitable and efficient service.
  • Conduct regular quality checks on food items to ensure freshness and compliance with safety standards, reporting any issues promptly.
  • Maintain detailed records of food distribution activities and assist in compiling data for reports, documenting the number of clients served, and other relevant metrics.
  • Work collaboratively with volunteers supporting food pantry operations.
  • Foster positive relationships with clients and community partners.
  • Adhere to all agency policies, including Confidentiality, Employee Handbook, Health Care Corporate Compliance Plan, Standards of Conduct, and other relevant policies.
