About The Position

Sodexo is seeking a Food Operations Manager (Healthcare) to join their team at New York City Health + Hospitals/Queens. This role involves leading daily food service operations in a fast-paced healthcare environment, managing a team of approximately 64 union employees, and ensuring high-quality patient dining experiences. The position requires a hands-on, service-driven leader committed to exceptional care and service.

Requirements

  • Experience in healthcare food service or patient dining operations
  • Proven leadership experience managing frontline teams in a high-volume environment
  • Strong employee engagement and accountability skills, ideally in a union setting
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and regulatory compliance
  • Excellent communication and client relationship skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment
  • Passion for delivering an exceptional patient and customer experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 3 years minimum management experience
  • 3 years minimum functional experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Union leadership experience preferred
  • Patient services or bedside dining experience a plus
  • Experience with healthcare food management systems and reporting tools preferred

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support daily food and patient dining operations in a complex healthcare setting
  • Supervise, coach, and develop a team of approximately 64 union frontline employees
  • Ensure high-quality meal service, food safety, and operational consistency
  • Support tray line execution, meal service flow, and patient satisfaction initiatives
  • Collaborate with clinical teams and hospital leadership to support a positive patient experience
  • Monitor and maintain compliance with HACCP, Department of Health, Joint Commission, and Sodexo standards
  • Support labor scheduling, staffing, productivity, and operational priorities
  • Drive accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Participate in achieving key operational and financial performance goals
  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and service excellence
