About The Position

Team Wake is seeking a Food and Nutrition Services (FNS) Supervisor that brings with them leadership skills and strong FNS policy knowledge and experience. This role provides supervision and administrative oversight of the daily activities of case managers and clerical staff, and works closely with the FNS Program Manager. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Three years of job-related experience
  • Equivalent education and experience are accepted
  • Intermediate or higher skill level in Microsoft Excel and utilizing office equipment and other relevant technology (software and systems) to meet business needs (e.g., Microsoft Office, NC FAST, and electronic document management system)
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service including a customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluating customer satisfaction
  • Expertise in applying complex policy to determine client eligibility, instructing staff in determining eligibility and monitoring eligibility determinations
  • Ability to motivate, develop and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job
  • Monitor/assess performance of oneself and other individuals to make improvements or take corrective action
  • Ability to provide guidance and feedback to help an employee or groups of employees strengthen their knowledge, skills and abilities to accomplish a task or solve a problem, which in turn should improve job performance
  • Ability to be relied upon to ensure that projects within areas of responsibility are completed in a timely manner
  • Ability to present information to individuals; ability to convey information clearly and concisely either verbally or in writing to ensure that listener understands the information and the message
  • Ability to create a work environment that encourages staff to practice respect, demonstrate open communication and promote accountability
  • Knowledge of Food & Nutrition Services policy

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of current or previous supervisory experience or two (2) years of current or previous team lead experience or three (3) years of current or previous Caseworker experience
  • Two (2) years of experience working in one or more of the following programs: Food & Nutrition Services, Medicaid, Energy, Childcare Subsidy, or Work First

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct eligibility caseworkers who determine eligibility for Food & Nutrition Services
  • Ensure benefits are issued accurately and on time in accordance with established policies and procedures
  • Set team and individual goals, review casework, recruit & train staff
  • Interpret policy for staff or request state clarification when necessary
  • Monitor employee casework regularly to maintain accuracy and compliance
  • Provide training on policy updates and assist with client concerns and public inquiries
  • Plan and set direction to meet program and agency outcomes
  • Ensure all federal, state, and county deadlines are met and that benefits are distributed correctly and promptly
