About The Position

Responsible for the various jobs and duties required to operate the Food & Nutrition department, including the safe preparation, cooking, serving and delivery of food to our patients, guests, and coworkers. Genesis HealthCare System is an integrated healthcare delivery system based in Zanesville, Ohio. The system includes a not-for-profit hospital, Genesis Hospital, in Zanesville, an extensive network of more than 300 physicians and multiple outpatient care centers throughout the region. Genesis is the largest healthcare provider in its six-county region of southeastern Ohio, which includes Muskingum, Morgan, Perry, Coshocton, Noble and Guernsey counties. Genesis provides a higher level of service than what is typically found in a community of its size including open-heart surgery, trauma care, a Level II special care nursery, neurosurgery and comprehensive cancer services. This level of care has established Genesis as a primary referral center for much of the region. Requirements

  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally or in writing to assure job is completed (read and write).
  • Good written and verbal skills.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to learn food safety and sanitation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Follows all food and environmental safety precautions per local and state guidelines.
  • Can safely and effectively use all equipment that is utilized in various job duties.
  • Follows proper cleaning/sanitizing procedures to ensure a safe environment for food production and service.
  • Follows established procedures and standardized recipes for the prepping, cooking, assembling, and serving of food items to patients and retail customers.
  • Follows safe and efficient methods of receiving, storing and rotating food supplies.
  • May be required to work in various locations within the department including retail areas, dish room, patient tray line and tray delivery, call center, kitchen prep and production areas, etc.
  • Participates in mandatory training programs, inservices, meetings, CBLs, etc.
  • Treats patients, visitors and coworkers with the utmost respect and dignity according to the Genesis Mission and Values.
  • Maintains privacy and confidentiality at all times, including adherence to all HIPAA laws.
