About The Position

This is work procuring, checking quality, preparation and issuing food at the Food Service Department. The Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and support for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children ages 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. Requirements

  • Must be able to lift, carry, bend, crouch, reach overhead, stand, and walk on a consistent basis.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs without accommodations.
  • Must have manual dexterity(i.e. use of fingers, hands and arms).
  • Ability to interact with all customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure textures, temperatures and consistencies are correct before portioning food items at tray line station during the assembly of meal trays.
  • Assist with preparation of meals including but not limited to opening cans, using equipment to prepare textures, following recipes to prepare a meal item.
  • Ensure proper amount of food has been issued to tray line.
  • Ensure work area is clean and sanitized at all times. Hair nets and gloves must be worn at all times.
  • Operate dish washing machine during the cleaning and sanitizing of serving equipment. Monitor machine chemicals and record temperatures in log. Report variances to supervisor when discovered. Work pot room as assigned.
  • Assemble grocery and snack items. Prepare salads according to schedule and prep food items for tray line as assigned.
  • Perform specific cleaning duties as assigned.
  • Assist with deliveries.
